What managed to pull away some attention from the record-breaking dash was the prototype timepiece from Richard Mille attached to Yohan Blake’s wrist. With Omega the official timekeeper and watch of the Olympic Games, it’s against Olympic rules to wear anything not from the official sponsors. Bolt is an official ambassador to competing luxury Swiss watchmaker Hublot and left his wrist bare. Blake’s choice to sport the Richard Mille watch could result in a big fine from the IOC. But with all the publicity the watch is now receiving, I’m sure Richard Mille will make it up to him.

The details haven’t been revealed on this prototype tourbillon timepiece, except it comes dressed in the colors of the Jamaican flag and uses a velcro strap. It’s most likely based off Mille’s existing tourbillon models created for tennis champ Rafael Nadal (RM027) and recent Masters Golf champ Bubba Watson (RM038).
